Back History
Our adventure started in March 2010 on searching for a specific model and make of a boat. We were hesistant from buying from an individual and we found this boat on the internet at a dealership in VA. In the beginning "Stuart Pumpelly" seemed very honest and was returning most of the emails in somewhat of a timely fashion, but did put alot of things off. We decided to drive down and look at the boat and test drive it. It was IN the water upon our arrival. The "head mechanic" was showing us the boat. Which they never even cleaned!!! EWWW disgusting, if you want to sell something you would think you would clean it up! It was black it was soo dirty and it was supposed to be a white boat. Talking with the mechanic, who was supposed to be the "head" he really didnt know what he was talking about, nice enough guy tho he did share that the boat was a trade in and had sat they for 3 years! Mr. Stuart Pumpelly told us he had the boat for one year to 1 1/2 years..funny huh? Well that was just the beginning. When we got back to office we agreed on a price of 14,000 and the title was signed w/out notary so he was going to over night the title the next day when HE took care of it. This was all in the beginning of May. On arrival of our boat the following week, we found the boat was leaking!! It was not even sea-worthy! There were fractures in both sides of the hull. We repaired those. At this point we still have NO title so we are unable to register our boat in NY. I dont know what the laws in VA are but apparently you don't need a title to sell something?! WTH? After many calls and promises of over nighting we finally received proper documentation to register our boat 3 days before JULY 4th!!! YAY!! So we took the boat out for 2 hours, it was nice...the 2nd day we used our boat it wasn't running well. We had the engine pulled to do diagnostics...It was down 2 cylinders and that didnt just happen over night. Mr. Stuart Pumpelly obviously had known all of this and did not disclose any of it! It had been through his shop and the person who owned it was a customer of his! After we had told Mr. Pumpelly about this he was never heard from again. No returned calls (calling him 3x a day) he was either in a meeting, on vacation, not there..etc. The 2 times we did speak to him he said he needed to contact or discuss with owner. So we decided to look for said owner and send a letter to him as well as the business. I found nothing except "Stuart Pumpelly the General Manager" upon contacting the county office to find out who the business' name is in they found all tax documents in one said name "Stuart Pumpelly" So my understanding, is HE IS the owner and is so shady he can't even own up to it!!! WHO OWNS A BUSINESS THAT THEY CAN"T EVEN CALL THEMSELVES THE OWNER!!!
